A gesture, held in clay.
Foam #3 is a ceramic work in European terracotta, engobe and glaze. A softly coloured pink vessel rises from a folded, uneven base. Green and purple accents sit against the creased surface, bringing a playful rhythm to a form that still seems to remember the softness of clay.
For Memory Foam, Onree follows the movement of his hands and the response of the clay. Pressing, pinching and bending leave their traces; firing makes those passing gestures permanent. The irregular form carries the energy of its making into the finished work.
Part of Memory Foam at Jinny Street Gallery, Jingumae 2-chome, Tokyo, 1–26 October 2026.
