A gesture, held in clay.
Foam #18 is a ceramic work in European terracotta, engobe and glaze. A coral-coloured vessel widens towards its base, its surface crossed by pale lavender marks. A large dark textured addition sits beside the opening, balanced by small areas of yellow and green glaze.
For Memory Foam, Onree follows the movement of his hands and the response of the clay. Pressing, pinching and bending leave their traces; firing makes those passing gestures permanent. The irregular form carries the energy of its making into the finished work.
Part of Memory Foam at Jinny Street Gallery, Jingumae 2-chome, Tokyo, 1–26 October 2026.
