A gesture, held in clay.
Foam #16 is a ceramic work in European terracotta, engobe and glaze. Glossy black folds meet coarse, porous-looking grey details in a compact ceramic form. Yellow and purple glaze settles across the top, bringing a bright contrast to the dark body.
For Memory Foam, Onree follows the movement of his hands and the response of the clay. Pressing, pinching and bending leave their traces; firing makes those passing gestures permanent. The irregular form carries the energy of its making into the finished work.
Part of Memory Foam at Jinny Street Gallery, Jingumae 2-chome, Tokyo, 1–26 October 2026.
