A gesture, held in clay.
Foam #13 is a ceramic work in European terracotta, engobe and glaze. A yellow vessel combines red painted marks, a pale green geometric detail and a dark, textured section. The irregular opening and compact body hold together these different colours and surfaces in a deliberately unexpected form.
For Memory Foam, Onree follows the movement of his hands and the response of the clay. Pressing, pinching and bending leave their traces; firing makes those passing gestures permanent. The irregular form carries the energy of its making into the finished work.
Part of Memory Foam at Jinny Street Gallery, Jingumae 2-chome, Tokyo, 1–26 October 2026.
