Foam #10 by Onree

A gesture, held in clay.

Foam #10 is a ceramic work in European terracotta, engobe and glaze. Pink and cream forms rise together beneath a bright yellow-and-green accent. Small openings and dark marks give the surface a lively rhythm, while the uneven silhouette preserves the sense of clay being pressed and assembled by hand.

For Memory Foam, Onree follows the movement of his hands and the response of the clay. Pressing, pinching and bending leave their traces; firing makes those passing gestures permanent. The irregular form carries the energy of its making into the finished work.
