A gesture, held in clay.
Foam #8 is a ceramic work in European terracotta, engobe and glaze. Pale green clay spreads into a low, irregular form, with orange, yellow and dark details emerging from its surface. The work changes character as it turns, revealing a different balance of openings, folds and projections from each angle.
For Memory Foam, Onree follows the movement of his hands and the response of the clay. Pressing, pinching and bending leave their traces; firing makes those passing gestures permanent. The irregular form carries the energy of its making into the finished work.
Part of Memory Foam at Jinny Street Gallery, Jingumae 2-chome, Tokyo, 1–26 October 2026.
