A gesture, held in clay.
Foam #4 is a ceramic work in European terracotta, engobe and glaze. Blue, green, yellow and white gather across a tall, densely textured form. Raised dots, trailing lines and rounded additions turn the surface into a landscape of colour that changes as the work is viewed from different sides.
For Memory Foam, Onree follows the movement of his hands and the response of the clay. Pressing, pinching and bending leave their traces; firing makes those passing gestures permanent. The irregular form carries the energy of its making into the finished work.
Part of Memory Foam at Jinny Street Gallery, Jingumae 2-chome, Tokyo, 1–26 October 2026.
