A gesture, held in clay.
Foam #12 is a ceramic work in European terracotta, engobe and glaze. A blue form rises in folds and ridges, dotted with bright orange additions. Its uneven silhouette and changing surface texture make the work feel animated, as though a movement has been caught and held in ceramic.
For Memory Foam, Onree follows the movement of his hands and the response of the clay. Pressing, pinching and bending leave their traces; firing makes those passing gestures permanent. The irregular form carries the energy of its making into the finished work.
Part of Memory Foam at Jinny Street Gallery, Jingumae 2-chome, Tokyo, 1–26 October 2026.
